Autopsy Video – Suicide or Homicide?

Not all dead bodies have an autopsy performed. Usually, autopsies are preformed on people have died under suspicions conditions.

In this video, the Medical Examiner (ME), tries to determine how this man was shot. Was it a suicide or homicide? Her work tells the final chapter of the victim’s lives.

The visible trauma to a body tells a story. By examining bullet holes, the medical examiner can determine whether it is an entrance or exit wound as well as how far away the gun was when it was fired and from what direction the bullet traveled.

The real clues though are inside the body. Internal organs are weighed, examined and x-rayed to confirm initial findings. In this case, inspection of the brain determined the man was killed by a single gun shot wound to the head.

Once cause of death is determined, the information is relayed to the crime scene investigators and detectives.
